Birdie Chop Recipes

This is a collection of Birdie Chop Recipes that I have found on the internet and in several Facebook Groups I am in.  However you make these recipes, whether you want to add or omit something to them, it is up to you to make sure that whatever fruits and vegetables that you add are safe.  Some birds prefer smaller pieces and others prefer large pieces.  Some birds don't like it at all.  So in that instance I take the chop and incorporate it into my birdie bread.  Most of my birds will not eat chop, but love the bread.

There is a safe food list mentioned on my Diet page. but there are a ton of safe and unsafe foods to provide that I can't possibly list them all. It is up to you to do the research!  You can add 5 ingredients to your chop, or two dozen. It's up to you and what your birds like.  Just be careful when using peppers.  They love jalopeno peppers, but use gloves when working with them in your chop.

If you have a hard time getting your bird to eat chop, there are a few things you can do. You can hang veggies from the top of the cage, make a fruit and veggie kabob and hang it in the cage, offer first thing in the morning when they are most hungry, sprinkle seed on it, and offer an assortment of 2 or 3 each day, until you figure out what they like. I have some that love mangoes, others turn their nose up at it.

Most of these recipes can be kept in the refrigerator for up to a 4-5 days (as long as there is no meat in them), and in the freezer for up to 6 weeks.  These are not my images below.
